Lisa Davis, CEO, Citizens Advice Epsom & Ewell, said:
“We have been given more Household Support funds to distribute to those who are tipping into financial crisis. Between June and September this year, we were able to assist 161 clients including families, older people, those with a disability or long-term condition. We helped them cover otherwise unaffordable essential costs with energy or supermarket vouchers or direct utility payments.
“We saw at first hand the significant positive impact these funds had on our community, providing emergency help and alleviating financial pressure and anxiety. Such support is essential in a cost-of-living crisis.
“Examples of the type of crisis could include the family car has broken down and is essential to get to work, support equipment is needed to prevent a disabled person falling into hardship, the children need new school uniforms, or the householder has difficulties with paying utility bills… Get in touch with us as soon as possible, we can help.”
