Mental Health

Our Mental Health Outreach Work

Since 1995 we have been managing a very successful Mental Health Outreach service, delivering across Epsom & Ewell, Reigate & Banstead, Mole Valley and Tandridge.

Our specialist team are trained, skilled and understand the issues faced by people with severe and enduring mental health problems, such as schizophrenia, bipolar, severe depression and anxiety, who are in crisis or facing imminent crisis and require particular advice and representation.

We help people who have difficulty in accessing advice services in the normal way, providing the support, information and advice needed to address their issues, meeting the client in hospital or within the community setting.

The work involves dealing with third parties, arguing the client’s case, liaising closely with hospitals, community mental health teams and the client to keep an accurate picture of the situation – all undertaken with an understanding of the mental health issues they are facing. Most of our work involves in depth specialist case work, but it can also involve helping clients to be better informed about benefits available to them, providing information on their rights and discussing options for debt and housing issues.

A very important aspect of our work is to challenge unjust decisions for clients through preparation and presentation of advocacy at tribunals. This work has a direct impact on ensuring financial security. The benefits and rights obtained very typically support fundamentals of living (such as a basic income or a home) and are essential to emotional well-being and better mental health.

Our aim is to help our clients feel much more financially stable and supported to enable independent living in the community. Many clients tell us they have improved confidence, improved mental health and a reduction in stress as a result of our support.

If you need our help or you know someone that does, please contact us here…. Remember that all our work is free and completely confidential.

We are grateful to our funders for their support in providing this service:
