We are seeking to recruit a volunteer Trustee with fund raising expertise to help develop the Trustee Board's strategic agenda and enable its delivery.

Role Description

The Trustee will take the lead role on the Board for strategy on raising funds, and for oversight of its delivery. Epsom & Ewell CAB already secures funds from a range of public and private sector sources, but has recognised a need to modernise its strategy and ensure a focus on the most cost-effective initiatives.

He/she will work with the Chair, Treasurer, Chief Executive and others

  • to advise the Board on operational and financial targets for fund-raising
  • to identify priorities, and an annual plan for delivery
  • to develop and inspire the Bureau's networks of Friends and supporters
  • to develop the Bureau's relationships with actual and potential funding partners
  • to contribute to the Bureau's communications strategy

As well as taking the Board lead on fund raising strategy, he/she will, along with fellow trustees, have overall responsibility for the strategy and management of the Bureau. The Trustee Board includes members of the local community with a variety of skills, contacts and expertise.

Essential Skills and Experience Sought:

  • Knowledge and experience of raising funds.
  • Strategic thinking, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability of up to one to two days a month on a flexible basis.
  • Commitment to the values and work of the advice sector generally and the CAB in particular.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience in a senior management role in a public or private sector organisation.
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, the Epsom and Ewell district and its people.
  • Knowledge of the voluntary sector.

Time Commitment:

Around one to two days per month, including four Trustee Board meetings a year. Board meetings are usually held on Thursday afternoons and last for 2-3 hours.Meetings will normally be held at the Bureau's offices in The Old Town Hall, Epsom, 5 minutes walk from Epsom station.
